Great Calm

When Jesus woke up, He rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.  Then He asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” – Mark 4:39-40

This stormy trip across the lake was not the first time Jesus had commanded the elements, rearranged reality or reinvented lives. Had the disciples not be paying attention? He had set the example on this excursion – He already embodied the “great calm” that would soon extend into their world.

Don’t be too tough on these disciples.  How many times has God moved in our lives – in miraculous ways – yet time after time we still doubt His power and compassion to intervene.  Be the calm you want to see.
