This very old proverb may be better known in today’s psychology as self fulfilling prophesy. If you think you’re going to have a bad day, going to fail at something, you probably will. Our minds are a powerful thing. Our thoughts not only lead us – they can drive us – some times in directions we don’t really want to go.
That is why God has given us so many warnings and advice to help us find the best in ourselves, for ourselves. Paul wrote to the Philippians (4:8) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
We can be as we think. We can become what we believe and want to be. God’s gift is the promise that His best awaits us. Let’s think about that!
