Then Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught by its horns in a thicket. So he took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering in place of his son. Abraham named the place the Lord will provide. -Genesis 22:13-14
Abraham was not only the Father of a Nation, but also Isaacs dad; trusted, revered and loved by a little boy. It must have been a terrible realization that God could ask for his son as a sacrifice. Of course, it was not Isaacs life that God desired, but Abrahams. The willingness to give up his son his love, his heritage, his life itself was the gift of obedience that activated Gods abundant provision.
The Lord is still in the business of providing. Are we still willing to be obedient?
