Working For the Lord

So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience. Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do. - Romans 13:5-6

Someone once said, “Any job is a Christian job if a Christian is in it.” It is not the occupation that matters to God, but that in whatever we do, “we do our best, as unto the Lord” (Colossians 3:23).  God wants Christian plumbers and policemen, accountants and mechanics, who can be His representatives in every part of the community.

Are we workers that would get a good performance review from our Lord? Do our coworkers see Christ in us through the business we conduct? As customers, do we pay what is due – and show the respect for others that He would expect of His children?  In all we do, let us do it as unto the Lord.
