And when they were come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down, and worshiped Him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto Him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh. -Matthew 2:11
The Wise men brought the most precious gifts money could buy to present in worship to the Messiah. But their real gift began long before they found the Child; it was in the seeking, the study, giving their time and engaging their hearts in the search for the Savior. They believed without seeing, taking a journey of faith that may have seemed unending, but that brought them the satisfaction of a lifetime.
The gift they gave was themselves.
The gift they received was priceless.
