Fully Committed

As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near.  I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. – 2 Timothy 4:6-7

The Apostle Paul was fully committed to the path he had chosen – following Christ and building the Kingdom of God.  Just like an Olympic athlete, success means daily devotion to reaching a long-term goal.  It takes study, concentration, repetition and sacrifice.

Being a “Christ follower” is a marathon, not a sprint.  Choices must be made to use resources that benefit the future instead of the present.  Talents are carefully molded into skills and precious time is allocated to those activities which are focused on the mission, not the moment.  Jesus, Himself, is the greatest example of total commitment, making the ultimate sacrifice to achieve an eternal aim.  We may be a tourist to a religion, but must immerse ourselves completely in a relationship with Christ.
