Does Your Anchor Hold?

This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. – Hebrews 6:19

The ocean is just as dangerous today, as it was in ancient times.  We have mapped the earth and charted the universe, but what lies beneath the waves is still truly the great unknown. Many people have made their living on the seas, many have lost their lives, we have reason to fear this massive, mysterious creation of our God.

Jesus easily compared the depths of the sea to the condition of the soul. When the storms raged and the winds tossed great ships like tiny toys, an anchor holding fast to something beneath, was all that kept sure destruction at bay.  The anchor is important, but more so the unseen rock in which it locks tight.  That foundation, our God, will hold the anchor we toss with faith and a prayer into the deep unknown, until the storms subside and we again sail on course to the destination He has mapped out for us.
