What is Life?

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. – Galatians 2:20

“Quality of life” – it means that quantity of life, the number of years from birth to death, does not assure a life worth living.  Breathing, brain activity, a beating heart, may meet the criteria of life, but not necessarily of feeling alive.  Many people exist – waking, working, moving from point A to B, starting over the next day; but what is existence without joy, purpose, or love?

That is what the Apostle Paul was conveying when he wrote that he no longer lived; no longer functioning as a mere human organism, but being reborn in the likeness of Christ, powered by His Spirit, connected to Him through blood, space and time.  The spark of life is a mystery still to science, but the greatest miracle is that real life doesn’t begin until we find it in Christ and turn quality control over to Him.
