We Are Blessed

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. – Matthew 5:6

What does it mean to be blessed? We all have our own definition, our own perception of what constitutes a blessing. The dictionary describes it as a “special favor, mercy or benefit.” It is something we can both give and receive. A blessing is a gift, and like grace, is often undeserved. It can be a welcome surprise, but how sad when it is missed or overlooked as we hurry about our lives, neither asking, hoping or expecting the blessings of God. Jabez asked to be blessed. Jesus said by seeking they would be blessed. Yet, our God is so gracious; His blessings shower down on us without our efforts or requests – just because He is good.

Expect a blessing.  Live life looking for the blessings, both large and small, that God grants to you each and every day.  Life is different when you live it as though you are blessed, because you will be.
