Soldier On

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. -Ephesians 6:11

The soldier in Jesus time may have been feared, revered, or even admired, but there was no mistake whenever a soldier crossed your path. You knew him by what he worn, how he moved, the power in his posture and the authority in his voice.  Well trained, disciplined, physically fit and emotionally prepared for whatever lay ahead – whether peace time or war, disaster or fair weather.

It is easy to understand how a soldier’s image became an analogy for the Christians of the new Church, who found themselves embattled from every side – just as we are today. In the world we see and in kingdoms of the unseen, the enemy is very real and very dangerous. God’s soldier is powerful under control, protected under pressure,  courageous in the face of insurmountable odds. Our Commander already gave His life for us and in doing so defeated death and evil.  He will lead us only to victory – so soldier on!
