Bitterness

Make sure that everyone has kindness from God so that bitterness doesn’t take root and grow up to cause trouble that corrupts many of you. -Hebrews 12:15

Bitterness is the bondage of discontent. Resentment results from not getting what we think we deserve or conversely,  from receiving an “unjust dessert.” It starts by our own grip, but quickly becomes a handcuff which is difficult to escape, a prison of our own making. Unfortunately, it rarely confines us alone.  Its poison spreads like a contagion to everyone in our path and destroys a healthy body from the inside out.

Hope is the only cure. Hope that we don’t get what we actually deserve and giving thanks for all we do receive in its place.
