Postponing Procrastination

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. – James 4:13-14

Yesterday is gone, tomorrow may never come, all we have is today.  Even Christians are not promised another day, in fact, we are forewarned of the fragility of life and encouraged to act now and make the most of this time we’ve been given. Yet, we all seem to fall into procrastination – delaying what could or should be done immediately, or at least soon.  It may be fear, poor planning, or simple laziness that prompts us to think there will be a time later to take an action that we don’t want to do now.

When we make that choice, we may be intruding on God’s time, and miss the crucial moment for something of great importance to His plan – even if we don’t see it.  ‘Later’ may be too late, or may never come at all. Procrastination robs us of the opportunity to LIVE! Don’t put off until tomorrow, what God wants you to do today!
