Pledge Allegiance to the King

They are all guilty of treason against Caesar, for they profess allegiance to another king, named Jesus. – Acts 17:7

When Jesus entered the gates of Jerusalem, He was surrounded not only by throngs of cheering crowds, but by clouds of misconception and misunderstanding.  Hundreds of years of tradition and oppression had shaped their expectation of the Messiah into a conquering warrior King that would sweep the Romans from rule and place the Jews back in power at last. It was this illusion that ultimately caused the death of their king; treason against an earthly crown.

It is easy to stand on the side of the apparently strong, powerful and proud, but it is the loving, gentle and generous that rule the heart and holds strength in its sway. Against all conventions, we celebrate the Lamb, not the lion, and pledge allegiance to the King of humble hearts, our God and loving Lord!
