We Are the Body

… to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up  until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (NIV) – Ephesians 4:11-13

We have no physical description of Jesus, but as a carpenter, His hands would have had to have been rough and calloused. He was surely strong, with a voice of authority, such that other men would leave their work and follow Him. He must have had a gentle smile or a hearty laugh that would draw children to His large lap and open arms.  While He may have not had a beautiful face, He must have had a glowing spirit that shined through His eyes, drawing the masses to His side.  Perhaps there is no description of Him by design, so that we might understand that to see Jesus, we need only look in the mirror.  We are His hands, His smile, His welcoming eyes.  We are the Body of Christ so that others can always see Him in us.
