Knocking Down the Walls

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.  – Revelation 3:20

Man reaching for God was the way of religion; always seeking to be better, to be worthy, to be capable of catching a glimpse of God. Temples, curtains, laws and legends stood between the mortal and immortal. After thousands of years, it would be God Himself that would breach the divide, to reach down to man, to knock at our doors and our hearts. Not coming in to take over the household or rule the remote, but to have dinner, to break bread and have conversation like family and friends. He reached out to knock down the walls of religion and open the door to relationship. Can we really know God personally?  Of course, that’s why He came and still waits for us to invite Him inside today.
