Harvest Time

When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.” -Matthew 9:36-38 (NIV)

The world is full of hurting, unhappy, distracted and despairing people. People, young and old, scurrying about day after day in want of something beyond what their eyes can see to fill a void they can feel needs filled. In that hole deep inside, God has planted a seed that longs for Him, which will grow with our help, our nurturing and care.

Many people are ready, sitting just on the precipice of redemption, needing the final push into the Master’s arms, but so few Christians are as ready to be the Master’s hand for the harvest. Blessed those who are steadfast workers in the fields of the Lord.
