Bless Me!

Jabez prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that You would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.– 1 Chronicles 4:10 (NKJV)

Jabez asked for what he wanted – so often we have not, because we ask not.  He asked for what he had to be enlarged – acknowledging what he had already been given and knowing that more responsibility comes with more territory.  He asked for God’s presence in his life and guidance in his affairs – it was not a request for blessings with immunity.  Jabez knew the formula for prosperity and God rewarded his prayer.  We don’t always make the right choices nor have the best motives behind our requests, but when we do – God is always faithful to bless.
