For many are invited, but few are chosen. -Matthew 22:14
A wedding has always been a highly celebrated event, through every country and culture across time. Though customs and traditions differ and change, some things are always the same: a couple commits to each other and family and friends share that indelible moment of happiness. Weddings are often referenced in scripture because everyone has a connection to the meaning and emotion of such an event.
Our God invites everyone to attend the union of Christ and His Church, but He does not accept those who come just for the buffet and the party. We must come with respect for the bride and groom, as family to support them, and accepting our place in the ongoing love that this bond represents. The invitation stands, the choice is ours.
