As we pray to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and the enduring hope you have because of our Lord Jesus Christ. – 1 Thessalonians 1:3
The Apostle Paul believed that Christ was going to return within his lifetime and his writings have a sense of excitement and urgency. He knew that the young church at Thessalonica needed encouragement to help them withstand growing persecution and to stay the course. Paul was far away and his baby Christians were left to run on Holy Spirit power alone. How happy he must have been when receiving reports that the investment he had made in them was ready for the Master to cash out.
Put yourself in Paul’s place. What would you do if you really felt that you would see Jesus tomorrow?
