The Power of Parenting

Then the king said, “Do not kill the child, but give him to the woman who wants him to live, for she is his mother!” -1 Kings 3:27

King Solomon was the son of King David and Bathsheba and the Old Testament shows us that he had a loving, respectful relationship with his famous mother. It is interesting that the first documented decision he made after receiving the gift of wisdom from God, was settling a dispute over maternity. It may not have been his special wisdom that helped him make this determination, but a lifetime of experience with his own mother and father’s love to guide him. Nothing is more powerful than a parent’s example.  What do others see of our love, wisdom and support in God’s family?
