God With Us

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).  -Matthew 1:22-23 (NIV)

None knew the meaning of “God with us” more than the woman who held Jesus as a sleeping baby in her arms, kissed His tears when He skinned His knee, or chased the laughing toddler as He played. Mary was an instrument of God’s promise, but she was so much more.

We are the beneficiaries of that promise. May we too become more than we were before as we deepen our understanding of what it means to truly know that God is with us still.
