Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
A dishonest tax collector experienced the power and the love of God when Jesus sought him out of the crowd and went to his home. Zacchaeus was not changed by Jesus’ condemnation, but by His compassion. His heart was transformed and his need to take was replaced by an exuberant need to give. The love of God cannot be contained – it must be shared!
