As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. -John 17:18
Jesus’ three years of ministry were not all focused only on the multitudes that gathered, but also on those select few that were called to follow. The lessons He shared were not just in the words He spoke, but in the life He led. That which He taught in public, He demonstrated in private. He watched them just as they watched Him. When His disciples erred, He was quick to correct and redirect. But most of all He prepared them, just as He had been prepared, to send them out into the world.
He gave them a simple message, a Great Commission, and a map to follow. He also instilled a spirit of expectancy, that the Word would not return void (Isaiah 55:11). Even though we may not be the ones to see an immediate impact of our work, anticipating success gives us the final ingredient we need to meet the world with confidence!
