Grateful for His Love

Let Him lead me to the banquet hall, and let His banner over me be love. -Song of Songs 2:4 (NIV)

Banner-making is an ancient craft. Rulers, towns, tradesmen, and even churches, displayed banners to mark their territories, strike fear into their enemies, communicate ownership or announce their arrival. This simple square of fabric, a powerful and personal symbol expressing deeply held values and shared beliefs. King Solomon wrote about how God’s unmistakable banner, that would be the standard of his life, was nothing less than all-encompassing love.

His Song of Songs shares a definitive vision of love in the spiritual, emotional and physical worlds. No love is unknown to our God or unexperienced. As love embodied, we can wrap ourselves in His banner and live in gratitude that we can know true love.
