What the Bible Says About the Prophets

And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.   – Joel 2:28 (NIV)

The children of Israel would have a prophet among them.  Someone right there to be the megaphone of God – telling them what to do, how to do it, and what will happen if they don’t!  History shows us that being “spoon fed” did not keep them from continually doing the wrong things over and over again.  How frustrating, saddening and maddening for the prophets! So God sent Jesus, a new strategy – personal responsibility.  Now it would be our job to study the Word of God, discern what it means for our lives, practice it daily, and learn how to become what God wants us to be and do. It is up to us.
