Prodigal

There was a man that had two sons. The youngest said, ‘give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided the property between them. Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. After he had spent everything…he longed to fill his stomach…but no one gave him anything. – Luke 15:11-16

Aren’t we often just like the prodigal son? We take the blessings God gives us and squander our resources on frivolous things instead of being good stewards of those gifts. We live for today and think little of the bills that will come due next month. God’s fruit of Self-control can help us deny our self-interests, manage our money and our lives as an investment in the future.
