David said to Abigail, “Praise be to the Lord, who has sent you today to meet me. May you be blest for keeping me from bloodshed this day and from avenging myself with my own hands.” – 1 Samuel 35:32- 33

David wanted revenge and he was willing to risk the importance of his coming role as king to get it. But Abigail came to him and reminded him that God repays injustice and that David’s conscience would be burdened in the end.

When evil day’s come upon us – confused by negative thinking, consumed by rage, in danger of making wrong decisions – may God send us an Abigail.
