Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. – Colossians 2:7
Gratitude is a learned behavior. We are born selfish, demanding and unapologetically ungrateful. A life of gratitude develops out of the fertile soil of familial love and a foundation of grace. In this, roots of forgiveness can grow deep and the seed of thanksgiving breaks the surface, its arms branching out far and wide, with buds of graciousness bursting into bloom.
Yes, gratitude must be carefully taught and if we choose to embrace its lessons, we can reap a harvest of hope and contentment that will carry us through any famine and feed everyone around us with its overflowing joy.
