I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to Me, listens to My teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock; when the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. – Luke 6:47-48 (NLT)

A good foundation is the key to lasting construction in our physical world, emotional well-being, and spiritual security. No athlete excels without first mastering the basics and conditioning the body to endure. No structure can stand for long without sound engineering knowledge combined with going to bedrock for support. People who have stable family and friends, that provide a base values and love, fare far better than others in an ever changing society.

So, too, our spiritual foundation will either hold firm through the storms of life, or collapse if not rooted in the Word of God, prayer and daily practice to strengthen faith. Cling to the Rock and you’ll stand strong.
