The Kingdom is Here

“The time has come,” He said. “The kingdom of God has come near…” – Mark 1:15 (NIV)

When Jesus said, the kingdom of God is near, there were many interpretations of His meaning: from the end of the world to the start of a military uprising to complete confusion – even among His closest disciples.

What does it mean to 21st century Christians? Since Jesus came, access to the kingdom of God is freely available – then, now and forever. It is here and we are, in a way, hosts at the door. We either entice others to join us inside, block their entrance or turn them away. Let’s reach out where we are now, and make the threshold welcoming!
