God Will Provide

img_1102.JPGThen Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught by its horns in a thicket. So he took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering in place of his son. Abraham named the place “the Lord will provide.”  -Genesis 22:13-14

Abraham was not only “the Father of a Nation,” but also Isaac’s dad; trusted, revered and loved by a little boy.  It must have been a terrible realization that God could ask for his son as a sacrifice.  Of course, it was not Isaac’s life that God desired, but Abraham’s.  The willingness to give up his son – his love, his heritage, his life itself – was the gift of obedience that activated God’s abundant provision.

The Lord is still in the business of “providing.” Are we still willing to be obedient?
