Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father’s household, then the Lord will be my God and this stone that I have set up as a memorial will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth.” -Genesis 28:20-22
God is always watching over us and intervening in the lives of those who are consecrated to Him. He gives us all we need, though perhaps not all we want. He holds us safe in His arms though we may only feel the sting of suffering. He answers our prayers in ways we may not see, or understand or appreciate. Our sacrifices do not go unnoticed or unrewarded.
When we put our stake in the ground, acknowledging the power of our great God and praising Him with our tongue, our time, our talents and our treasure, we become a living memorial to His sacrifice for us.
