The Church is Us

On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. – Matthew 16:18 (NIV)

When Jesus planted His Church, it was not in a building, in a particular location, or with a budget or bylaws in mind.  One person who believed in the Messiah and the mission, was all it took.  What started with one, became millions.  That which an individual could do for the Lord, would be multiplied exponentially through the ages. While walls of brick and glass grew up around the Church, it was not to keep them inside, nor to keep others out, but to simply protect us from the rain when we met to worship Him together.  For all the programs and traditions, music and meetings, it must always be all about the Messiah and the mission. May we never forget that it is the people, not the place, that is God’s Church.
