So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. -Acts 13:51-52
The Church was really on the move in those early days. Persecution only proved to incite the passion into a fever pitch. Peter, Paul, Barnabas, Silas, all the heavy hitters of the New Testament line up were carrying the message to every corner of their world. On foot, in caravans, by ship, nothing could stop the wave. Not rejection, imprisonment, beatings, stoning, even being left for dead could quench the cadence of the Holy Spirit as they rounded all the bases. They may have gone down, but were never out. “It ain’t over till it’s over” might have been their victory chant. So pick yourself up, brush off the dirt, and keep moving on with joy in your step.
