Ecclesiastes 3:7-8
A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.

After a long life of highs and lows, the wise King Solomon begins with “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” We have certainly been experiencing a season of hate of every difference, tearing communities and families apart. We have seen war in our streets, in our homes and on the nightly news; too many of us standing by, quiet, silent to injustice and inequity that feeds the monster of fear and despair.

We pray for the season of change to come, to mend the wounds of hate and to bring peace to the chaos of destruction, but the change must come within us first. We can transform the path we’re treading by speaking healing, helpful, hope-filled words. The time has come to love and let it begin with us.
