What Really Matters?

I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding.  For I want you to understand what really matters…  – Philippians 1:9-10a

Growing is often painful.  Learning too frequently comes from mistakes and missteps.  Oh, that we could appreciate what truly matters in life before it slips from our hands or is all that is left in our grasp.  So much else clutters our minds and hearts, masking the most important, most meaningful, most impossible things to live without: God, faith, family.

The family that stands together – safe- amid the rubble of a home destroyed, knows the truth of what matters most. Possessions, position, power, all pale by comparison in that moment of realization. Love is the greatest teacher, guided by the grace of God, binding His family together as the real heart of the matter.
