Women of Action

Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.” -Esther 4:15-16

We can have faith in the silence of our hearts. We can exhibit courage of conviction without taking a step, but taking action requires leaving the safety of our homes and churches and risking something for the cause of Christ. The risk may be great or small, exposing us to ridicule, rejection or perhaps even death.

We find in the Gospels, that no one is more supportive, more encouraging, more unexpectedly the champion of women, than Jesus. Wherever Jesus was, you will find women. They followed Him, helped Him, served Him, reached out to touch Him at great risk. Jesus always met them where they were, as they were, with love and respect.

Those women knew that action requires movement, not just thought, not only faith, but actually engaging with the world to make something happen. Women of today, let’s do it – let us become the “movers and shakers” of our age and act!
