He put a child in the middle of the room. Then, cradling the little one in His arms, He said, “Whoever embraces one of these children as I do embraces Me, and far more than Me—God who sent Me.” – Mark 9:36-37

Again we see Jesus with children – on His lap, in His arms, on His mind. He must have been comforted in their company, being those who could see the simple truth, uncalloused by adulthood, unfettered by the pursuit of power. They longed to be with Him just to hold His hand, to see His smile, and to share His laughter.

He pours out His compassion on us every day. His tender heart and strong arms open to embrace us, His “children.” Put away the childish attitudes and behaviors. Become child-like and really begin to know God.

Forgive me for my selfishness, for my temper tantrums and for so often, not playing well with others. Hold my hand and teach me how to grow into the person You want me to become.
